Cosmetics

BioMed is capable of processing a wide range of materials into spherical particles, also known as colloids. For the cosmetic market BioMed Elements has developed two colloidal products: Colloidal Marine Collagen Hyaluronic Acid Submicron Pearls. The biopolymer pearls are comprised of the registered and well-known ingredients: Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer (INCI name, non-animal derived) and fish gelatin.

Colloidal Marine Collagen and Hyaluronic Acid Submicron Pearls are new, innovative and appealing cosmetic ingredients. They can be used in formulations for lipstick, eye-shadow, facial creams and sheet masks. These active ingredients will make your cosmetic product even more attractive.

Benefits Biopolymer Pearls

BioMed’s spherical pearls offer major (hydration) improvements over the linear forms for cosmetics. Linear marine collagen and hyaluronic acid have numerous positive effects on the skin. They have, amongst other benefits, excellent moisturizing properties, anti-aging effects and strengthen the skin barrier. Hyaluronic acid is even considered the golden standard in cosmetics.

Less Is More

The benefits of collagen and hyaluronic acid are enhanced when the dimensions of the molecule are changed into a spherical shape. Due to the spherical dimensions, the surface to volume ratio is optimized. This results in an improvement of the moisturizing effect of the base material. Because of this relation less material is needed to obtain the same hydration

Prolonged Hydration Hyaluronic Acid

While high molecular weight hyaluronic acid has superior film forming effects, low molecular weight penetrates deeper into the skin. Our Hyaluronic Acid Submicron Pearls combines these unique benefits. While the pearls form an initial film on the epidermis, they subsequently penetrate the skin; here they slowly degrade into the low molecular fragments that moisturize the deeper layers of the skin. This mechanism will prolong the hydration effect of the Hyaluronic acid

GEL

Transdermal Carrier

The pearls have a size below one micron and therefore can have the ability to penetrate the skin. This enables the pearls to be used as transdermal carrier for (hydrophilic) actives.
